Worship with Leaside United Church – Sunday, Nov 19, 2023

This Sunday we began a mini Stewardship series, as we reflected on a few of the insights on money and our actions that are found in scripture. Jean Marie Suchora, Minister of Pastoral Care, was our Minute Person this Sunday.

Worship with Leaside United Church – Sunday, Nov 12, 2023

This Sunday we concluded our Stories of the Past series with Remembrance Sunday. Our guest trumpeter was Helen Geng, who led us in and out of Two Minutes of Silence for Remembrance Day after the laying of the Wreath. Our music included an anthem by the Junior Choir: In Flanders Fields. The Chancel Choir sang Abide with Me, and our hymns included Peace for the Children. Also this Sunday we shared the sacrament of Communion, a reminder of the Prince of Peace whom we follow. In Communion we remember that we are connected with one another, within this community and around the world.

Worship at Leaside United Church – Sunday, Nov 5, 2023

This Sunday we marked All Saint’s Day as we continued our Stories of the Past series. The service included an opportunity to come forward and light a candle in memory of someone. Our scripture readings were 1 John 3:1-3 and Matthew 5:1-12. Music included the hymns For All the Saints, How Great Thou Art, and God Lights a Lamp – a new hymn from the sampler from the new United Church hymn resource that will be coming out in 2025 for the 100 year anniversary of the United Church of Canada.
This Sunday we also launched the Stewardship campaign.
