Experiencing Creation with All Our Senses: Sound

WORSHIP AT HOME
September 26, 2021

Blessing of the Animals
“All God’s Creatures got a place in the choir”

Today’s service includes a Blessing of the Animals, so bring your pet with you to church – or a photo if that is a little more still.

This week our Anthem “A Place in the Choir” is a fun celebration of animal sounds. We will also sing “All Things Bright and Beautiful” as a hymn following the Blessing of the Animals.

Our Zoom service will include a time for lighting candles as our prayers for joys and sorrows – including all of our celebrations.

Join Zoom at 11:10am for a time of conversation following the service.

Next Sunday
We continue on to Taste next Sunday, as we celebrate Worldwide Communion live on Zoom. There will be a shorter time of worship shared on YouTube, but consider attending Zoom by computer or phone next week to share in communion with one another, bringing bread and juice, or whatever you have at home that is similar, with you.

Sunday Worship in September

During September weekly worship will continue every Sunday on both Zoom and YouTube at 10:30am as we learn about our new A/V system and what is possible. We look forward to developing our livestream capability and moving towards adding an in-person option as soon as we have the technology in place and it is safe to do so. We will begin Creation Time and explore the theme “Experiencing Creation with all of our senses.” On September 12th we’ll also share a Blessing of the Backpacks as a part of our worship.

The Stories and Makers Nest will restart this Sunday, September 5th at 9:55 am and continue throughout the fall. This program is on Zoom and YouTube (on YouTube on an ongoing basis). The theme this month is “Fruits of the Spirit.”
We continue to collaborate with Rosedale United Church on creating this program and look forward to more weeks with Rebecca, Roberta, and some furry friends.

On September 19th we will begin a monthly outdoor time of worship, with some prayer and readings and more time spent engaging with nature as a way to connect with the sacred. Our theme on September 19th will be Balance as we approach the Autumnal Equinox, and we will take the opportunity to pay attention to the landscape, and native plants on the church property. This outdoor time will include options for all ages, and we welcome the youngest and the oldest to take part. Those who are spiritual but not religious might especially appreciate this approach to connecting with the sacred.

We look forward to the many different ways we will connect with one another in September and throughout the fall.

Reflections & Connections Communion Sunday – June 6, 2021

This Sunday our Reflections and Connections service has two different possibilities.

On Zoom, we will be sharing Communion with one another, wish one another the Peace of Christ, and light candles for joys and sorrows. Rather than listening to a sermon, we will have four opportunities for personal reflection. Bring bread and juice, or something else to eat and drink for communion. If you are someone who likes to journal, also bring your journal to worship this morning.

On YouTube we are sharing several different worship options from the larger church. Just follow the links to a worship service that will connect with you this week.

Stories and Makers Nest – June 6, 2021:

This week hear the story of Samuel and make magic reveal drawings! Watch at 9:55 on Zoom, or any time on YouTube.

Next Sunday, June 13 is our Church Birthday! We celebrate 4 years since the coming together of Leaside United Church and Presteign-Woodbine United Church with a service that includes a world premiere by our virtual choir, as well as our Stewardship celebration slideshow.

Following the service will be a congregational meeting on Zoom, including a proposed addition to our mission statement and Council and Committee nominations for the coming year.
