A Day of Celebration!

What a wonderful day of celebration we enjoyed together!

We celebrated one year of being a new community of people with the merge of Leaside United Church and Presteign-Woodbine United Church.

There was face painting, a mini theater playing The Quilt Maker’s Gift on a loop, a fabulous Arts & Crafts Gallery exhibiting our community of talented artists and craftspeople and a lovely send off to our Church Accountant John Rooke, who is retiring from LUC after 10 years of service.  The Stewardship slideshow re-lived our moments together over the past year and there was not ONE cake but THREE for us to share.

It sure was an exciting day at the new Leaside United Church!  Thank you to all who made it such a joyful event!

The Quilt Maker’s Gift

A quilt maker teaches a greedy king important lessons about giving, receiving, wanting and true happiness.

Thank you to the wonderful cast and crew who performed in and produced “The Quilt Maker’s Gift” last Sunday at Leaside United Church.  Tanya Wiles-Bell’s outstanding leadership and adaptation of Jeff Brumbeau’s book by the same name made this performance a great success! We learned important lessons about giving, receiving and wanting. Timeless lessons at any age! 👶👴🎭⛪ What was your favourite part?

Emily’s Weekday Wonderings – May 29th, 2018

Our church’s Birthday Celebration is coming up! On June 10th it will be one year since the coming together of Leaside United Church and Presteign-Woodbine United Church as one new congregation.

So why bother celebrating birthdays (church birthdays or our own birthdays)?

I think there are several reasons that apply:

  • They recognize where we have been, what we have accomplished, and what we have learned – an opportunity for reflection and thanksgiving.
  • They are a witness to the strength of joy, love, and hope in the face of fear, sorrow, and uncertainty.
  • They celebrate the inherent goodness of all life.

How will we be celebrating our church’s birthday on June 10th? …
