On this First Sunday of Advent, we hear from the prophet Isaiah, with his dream of a world of peace, a world in which “they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore”. Hence the title of my sermon, “Not Your Grandmother’s Prince of Peace”, borrowed from James Martin’s book “More Parables for Our Time: Not Your Grandmother’s Prince of Peace”.
