Leaside United – Advent 2 – Peace

Certain characters show up every Advent: the prophets, Mary and, of course, John the Baptist. John is not someone who would fit in “polite company”; he wore clothing of camel’s hair with a leather girdle around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. And his message is pretty unsavoury in many ways too: “you brood of vipers”, he calls his listeners.

But his message is really a message about making choices: we can choose what kind of people we want to be, how we want to act, the kind of church, community, city and world we want to leave behind for our children and grandchildren. On Sunday, we’ll try to unpack his powerful message.

Also on Sunday, at 7 pm, we’ll gather for the annual Carols by Candlelight service, with beautiful music and readings. It’s not to be missed!
See you on Sunday!
