The “Miracle on Millwood” continues!

2019 is starting out as another very successful year for Leaside United Awesome Sales and its 13 departments.

For our May Sale, the total to date is $24,200 to date. With the possible sale of one or two big-ticket items, this result should increase. So, without a Furniture Department, this sale result is very pleasing indeed.

We thank all donors for their terrific support. Inventory is needed and we indeed, seem to be blessed with a consistent supply of goods.

We also thank all the volunteers for their collective hours of dedicated service – some beginning several months before each sale.

As many know, 25 percent of the Sales’ revenue goes directly for the Outreach work of our church. This enables LUC to support and / or sponsor many groups such as:
refugee families, Out-of-the Cold programs, food banks, shelters and other churches’ work.

Awesome Sales are very “GREEN” events. These sales save tonnes of items from landfill through sales and / or redirecting these goods for reuse, resale, repurposing or recycling. During the presale sorting process, special needed items are distributed through The Neighbourhood Office (TNO), via the Volunteer English Language Programme. Also, winter clothing items are brought to the Out-of-the Cold at Eastminster United Church. Cerebral Palsy picks up 80 percent of our unsold goods. Most of the rest is taken to either the Salvation Army Thrift Store or to Value Village.

All unsold books are delivered to Sunnybrook Health Centre, Children’s Book Bank and John Robarts’ Library at U of T. Free book shopping is also provided to representatives from both Women’s College Health Centre and from Victoria College at U of T.

Once again, there is much for which to be grateful and to celebrate.
Thank you to all who continue to make Leaside’s Awesome Sales truly “Miracles on Millwood”!!!
