Tomorrow September 2nd is our final Sunday of our casual summer theme
Reel Life 2018, exploring some of the blockbusters of the year, and ask how they speak to our popular culture, and even our faith. Does Reel Life have anything to do with Real Life?This Sunday we’ll turn to Ocean’s 8 as we think about the popularity of the heist film. Heist films like the Ocean’s movies seem to combine con films and aspects of the spy genre. What is it about the genre that captures our imagination? Escapism? Aspiration? Intellectual puzzle?
Of course, you don’t need to have seen the film – it’s all about exploring themes and our faith, not about specific characters or plots points. And there will be popcorn, of course! We’ll also sing hymns and light candles as we share our joys and sorrows.
