Peace Sunday – October 24, 2021

This morning, the service will be the same on Zoom and YouTube, so you are welcome to watch whichever way you prefer. This will be our second livestream service. Thank you for all of your feedback. We have made a few adjustments and have other areas we will be continuing to improve over the coming weeks.

As we mark Peace Sunday today, we will hear many of the Principles of Peace from the Canadian Council of Churches, and hearing Jeremiah 31:7-9 as an insight into how we might think about peace in our times. Our music will include the anthem “Earth Song” by Ticheli.

Stories and Makers Nest:

Use the livestream link to reach our YouTube Channel where the service will appear a little before 10:30am.

In-Person Worship Option

If you would be interested in sometimes taking part in an in-person option, please note the information and sign up link for next Sunday in the email you received from Leaside United. Registration is required since we need to ensure we are not over-capacity.

Next Sunday

We will be sharing a service “Loss and Love” on October 31, as we look ahead to All Saint’s Day.

Then, on November 7th will be our Remembrance Sunday service, with our next virtual choir project of the fall.

World Food Sunday- The COVID CARE FUND

COVID CARE – Addressing local food insecurity.

In this month of Thanksgiving, the Outreach Committee wants to extend our sincere gratitude to you for contributing to the Covid Care fund. To date we have dispersed $26,280.00 to organizations providing meals or food supplies to those in need.

When we started this program in March 2020, we never expected to see such generosity. Your generosity has been overwhelming and organizations that have been recipients of a donation from LUC, have been most grateful.

As we head into the fall and winter seasons, we want to remind you that the need for food continues to exist in our community and the Covid Care fund will continue to disperse monies to organizations such as Flemingdon Food Bank, Flemingdon Park Ministry, TNO Food Co-operative, Out of the Cold, Toronto Urban Native Ministry, Community Share Food Bank, Canadian Community Services Organization, Kennedy House, Massey House, The 519, Friends of Ruby.

In the words of Anne Frank, let us not forget that; “No one has ever become poor by giving.”

Know that your donation to Covid Care will make a difference in someone’s life!

THANK YOU!
