Black History Month

We begin Black History month with a Musical Celebration, including our first Virtual Choir of 2021 singing Oscar Peterson’s Hymn to Freedom.

Today the service is the same on Zoom and on YouTube, so you are welcome to watch it either way. You may want to share the YouTube link with family and friends, as the music sounds particularly good on YouTube.

If you watch on YouTube today, join Zoom at 11:15am for conversation time following the service.

Today’s Stories and Crafts program is about when Jesus meets children, and can be watched at 9:55 or any time on YouTube.

Next Sunday (Feb 14th)

For Valentine’s Sunday we will revisit some of the wonderful Choral Evensong music last year, and reflect on the Song of Songs.

My Soul Waits in Silence – Sunday January 31, 2021

Fourth Sunday after Epiphany
“My Soul Waits in Silence”

This Sunday we pay attention to silence.
For many of us, there is too much silence right now,
as we spend less time with others
or even in the proximity of those we don’t know.
For some of us, there is far too little silence right now,
as homes are not big enough,
and there is too little time for solitude.
We invite you to offer your soul silence today,
as a place for longing, reflection, hope, and renewal.

Our service includes the solo “In Christ Alone” and the hymn “Christ Be with Me” to a beautiful Irish tune. We will sing: “Christ in quiet, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts of all that love me.”

On YouTube, this will be a short service (15 minutes), and you are invited to create space for your own silence as the final part of your personal worship time.

On Zoom, we will take time to light candles for our prayers, and hear Emily’s reflection on the importance of listening for the prophets.
Either way, join Zoom at 11:15am for a time of conversation.

For Stories and Crafts this week we will be making Kindness Notes. This could be something we all might want to try! You can watch on Zoom at 9:55am, or any time on YouTube.
