Advent & Christmas Services at Leaside United

Upcoming Services:

Lessons and Carols – this Sunday December 9th at 7:30pm
With the Chancel Choir, the Junior Choir, and C-Flats Jazz Band, we’ll sing favourite carols and hear beautiful new anthems. Although Matthew Boutda doesn’t officially begin as interim music director until January, he will join us for the prelude and postlude, as well as singing with our bass section.

Quiet Christmas – Thursday, December 20th at 7:00pm
Christmas is often a busy, even stressful time of year, and sometimes we long for a quiet space to reflect on our mixed emotions. Many of us feel absence of loved ones, the pressure of  expectations, challenges in mental or physical health, worries about the world, or other reasons that Christmas is not an easy time. This service offers us a chance to be still and acknowledge the joys and the challenges of the season. You are welcome to come early or stay afterward to sit in the silence.
Rev. Emily Gordon will be offering leadership along with Jean Marie Suchora our pastoral care minister, and Matthew Boutda our incoming interim music director.

Christmas Pageant – Sunday, December 23rd at 10:30am
During this service we will share in an all ages Christmas pageant, with opportunities for those without formal roles to be involved.

Christmas Eve All Ages Service – December 24th at 4pm
A fun and more interactive approach to the Christmas story, suitable for all ages, at a time when you can be home for supper.

Christmas Eve Carols, Communion, and Candlelight Service – December 24th at 8pm
With our choir, communion, and Silent Night sung in candlelight, this service will be a chance to share in the beauty and tradition of the Christmas story, while reflecting on what it means for us today.

Christmas Tea 2018 Gallery

What a wonderful Christmas Tea we had last week with over 90 guests! Each year the Pastoral Care Committee hosts a tea for people in the congregation and community to enjoy a time of prayer, Christmas song and fellowship.

Many thanks for all who came out to this yearly favourite and to all the volunteers who baked goodies to share and poured tea – we couldn’t do it without you!
