Worldwide Communion Sunday October 4, 2020 10:30am

This Sunday, over Zoom, we’ll share communion live. Bring bread, crackers, or some other food, and juice, wine, or something else to drink, as we celebrate together with people around the world.

Gather at 9:45am for our Stories and Crafts program – all ages welcome. We’ll be learning some more ASL, and making a fish.

Or join before 10:25am, when we’ll begin our gathering music

Our worship on YouTube includes a prayer by St. Francis of Assisi, a reflection on what it means to think about being connected during these times, and the solo “The Call.”

Next Sunday
Thanksgiving Sunday will include our first Virtual Choir Anthem of the fall! We will also have a visit from Robbie.

COVID-19 Response Team: Worship Message

This summer the worship planning team and the COVID response team have been closely monitoring the COVID situation and the guidelines regarding the opening of places of worship. There is nothing we would like more than to be able to return to worship, to share hugs and handshakes, and linger over conversation and coffee. Unfortunately, it is clear that it will be quite some time before this vision of church will be possible.

We have been hearing from many about ways we are able to connect with worship and community within Leaside United Church. Worship over Zoom and on YouTube offers opportunity to reflect, hear scripture, and pray together. We are able to sing and to hear music, even though the experience can’t be the same. Over Zoom, we are able to wish one another peace, to talk with each other, even sometimes to light candles for prayers. On YouTube we can hear the incredible virtual choir projects, and return to meaningful prayers, reflections, and music, or share them with others. Over Zoom we have been able to share a children’s program every week, and we are working on plans to offer a children’s program on YouTube in the fall, as a more flexible possibility for families.

At 11:00 am, join on Zoom for:

  • Stewardship Celebration slideshow
  • more musical highlights
  • A very short congregational meeting to approve council and committee members next year
  • Time for conversation

As usual, our children’s program will begin at 10 on Zoom, and we’ll share the service on Zoom at 10:30 for anyone phoning in to hear the service.

Celebrations this Sunday!

This Sunday is our Church Birthday and we will celebrate 3 years of our new Leaside United Church with a service full of music and leadership from our congregation.

Look for Sunday’s email to link to the service on YouTube – the best way to appreciate the full effect of our 3 virtual choir anthems!
Then, after the service be sure to join us on Zoom for:

  • The Stewardship Celebration slideshow (a highlight every year)
  • A couple more musical surprises from our congregation
  • A very short congregational meeting to approve council and committee members; click this LINK to review the council and committee members before Sunday

. . . and time for conversation with one another!
The service will also be shared at 10:30 on Sunday morning, for those phoning in to hear the service and there will also be a children’s program at 10 am as usual.
